Dear Colleagues,
As you are likely aware, the AU Health System team has been working hard to administer the COVID-19 vaccines to direct and indirect healthcare providers over the last several weeks. At the same time, our AUMC inpatient census has continued to increase. Our health system partners are working at maximum capacity to keep up with the increased demand for healthcare providers.
This is where you come in.
We are in need of clinical and non-clinical AU support volunteers to staff upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics, scheduled to take place in the AUMC Professional Office Building One (POB).
· Clinical support volunteers must have one of the following professional designations and will be tasked with administering the COVID-19 vaccination during the upcoming clinics (RN, LPN, CMA, MD, DO, NP, PA, RPh, PharmD, or faculty-supervised nursing student)
· Non-clinical support volunteers will be tasked with administering patient consent forms and managing patient traffic flow during the upcoming clinics.
By volunteering, you will be supporting the AU mission by freeing up our AUHS staff to care for critical needs patients in the medical center. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please complete the AU MRC Special COVID-19 Vaccine Volunteer form here. This form will allow you to share your schedule availability and any special skills or certifications that may support this effort. Once your volunteer application has been processed and confirmed, you will be contacted, based on need, by a member of our emergency response team within the next couple of days with instructions regarding your volunteer placement and schedule. We have included available volunteer shifts for the next couple of weeks, and will continue to add available shifts throughout the next couple of months, for your reference. Volunteers selected to serve will also have the option to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the conclusion of their approved volunteer shift.
Important note: These volunteer shifts should not disrupt normal university business. This is a strictly volunteer opportunity and does not take priority over your normal work or class schedule. Your direct supervisor and/or dean must approve any volunteer shifts taken during work/class hours.
Questions? Please reach out to us at medical_reserve@augusta.edu. We’re here to help! Thank you in advance for your continued commitment to serving our colleagues and neighbors, as we come together to make a positive difference in our community.
