Augusta Chapter UAPRN Officer & Committee Service Opportunities

Officers and Committee Members provide vital support needed to fulfill the UAPRN mission -representing APRNs, promoting APRN legislative and practice issues, and supporting the professional advancement of the APRN roles.

The following positions are up for ELECTION this year.

Any member in good standing is eligible for elected or appointed office in UAPRN of Georgia.

You may self-nominate or nominate other members. Members will need to sign a consent to serve form prior to having the name placed on the ballot.

President

  • The President shall be the chief elected officer and shall serve as the representative of the chapter, while having supervision of the work of the chapter.
  • He/she shall appoint members via a task force to do special projects to further the work and progress of the chapter.
  • He/she shall call Regular and Special Meetings of Board of Directors in accordance with the Bylaws and shall be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors.
  • He/she shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors, shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Board of Directors are carried into effect, and shall have other duties and powers as the Directors may from time-to-time prescribe.
  • Communicate or arrange communication with state UAPRN quarterly.
  • Ensure that state UAPRN has updated list of chapter officers.
  • The President shall serve as a member for one year following his/her term of office as past president and maintain voting privileges throughout this one-year term.

Secretary

  • The Secretary shall keep the minutes and an accurate record of all meetings of the Board of Directors and quarterly chapter meetings.
  • He/she shall submit copies of all minutes of the Board of Directors on the UAPRN website no later than two weeks following the date of the meeting.
  • He/she shall have charge of all books or records of the chapter.

Chair, Nominating Committee

  • Leads the committee to ensure transition of officers following the process and qualifications set forth in the bylaws.

Nominating Committee (3 members)

  • Compiles Officer Ballot with terms and duties. 
  • Seeks volunteers to serve.
  • Obtains signed consent to serve form for each candidate and submits forms to Vice President along with the ballot.
  • Place slate on the Augusta Chapter UAPRN.org website by August 31 which is at least 30 days prior to the election period which is the first 2 weeks in Oct.
  • Run the election. 
  • Maintain records of the electronic vote for whichever is longer, 30 days or until the confirmation from the secretary that there are no contested votes 15 days following the results being posted on the Augusta Chapter UAPRN.org website.
  • Return results to the BOD by Nov 1.
  • Facilitate transition of elected members.

Committee membership is open to APPOINTMENT

Any member in good standing is eligible for elected or appointed office in UAPRN of Georgia.

Legislative

  • Informs UAPRN members of latest legislative news.
  • Solicits volunteers to represent chapter and attend Legislative activities. 
  • Places agenda items and reports on monthly meetings as appropriate

Community Network

  • Prepare for monthly agenda item of UAPRN chapter meeting. 
  • Serves as APRN Representative to give report/ updates on APRN news from local healthcare agencies.

Preceptor

  • Maintains list of preceptor volunteers for APRN students.
  • Places UAPRN agenda item for “Match Day” prior to each semester.

Nursing Student

  • Represents local APRN students and is available or sends representative to monthly UAPRN meeting. 
  • Introduces students to group.
  • Brings student input to Board of Directors issues pertinent to APRN development

Education/Dinner Meetings (monthly)

  • Secures monthly sponsor & reservations for education programs. 
  • Sends invitation to members.

Membership

  • Maintains list of active members.
  • Reports new memberships at monthly meetings.

Scholarship

  • Meets with BOD by Feb to review bylaws for scholarship and establish criteria for chapter awards to be awarded in April. 
  • Publicizes scholarship opportunity and application process by sending notices to UAPRN chapter members and Administrators of area hospitals/healthcare facilities seeking nominations. 
  • Convenes committee to review applications and select recipient(s). 
  • Notifies Chapter President of scholarship selection and places committee on agenda for award of scholarship.

Professional Affairs

  • Establishes agenda by May and works with President and BOD to plan UAPRN celebration of NP Week for November meeting.

Christmas Social

  • Establishes agenda in Sept and works with President and BOD to plan UAPRN Christmas Social for first week in December.
